Today I wanna tell you about possibilities.

Of all the possibilities you have for you.

Sometimes it’s hard to think about the possibilities and we only think about the problems… and that’s when nothing works!

If we want life to go well, it’s good to focus on the positive. When we focus on the positive, we start to see things in a more joyful and light way, and we start to see the possibilities.

If you surrender to complaining and feeling bad about your life, you start seeing only problems and annoyances.

I’m a bit romantic (or a lot ;)) so I like to believe in my dreams, in the things that I desire for me and my life. But until now, I thought about that a bit and then, the rest of the time, in all the things that annoyed me during the day…

Today, for example, I woke up feeling irritated. I started to complain because I didn’t have my lenses (they stayed in Tomar) and I had to open new ones, then I didn’t have fruit or vegetables to make the juice I wanted so I had to eat plums, then I had to enroll my son in school and I started imagining the long lines (that weren’t even there after all ;)) and at each step I had a new reason to complain.

The other day I realized that complaining is playing the victim. Complaining doesn’t change a thing, it only gives more strength to a feeling that life doesn’t go well for us. It’s thinking that things are hard and boring that puts us down. If we feel like complaining, we can accept the situation or change it if we can, and that’s it.

If I think that life is always happening for me, I can see that I don’t have my lenses because I forgot about them, because I packed in a hurry, because I leave things to the last minute – a pattern that it’d be good to change, for sure. But what does it really mean if I go deeper? That I left the decision of coming to Lisbon to the last minute. I postponed the decision and that’s my real problem, postponing decisions because I’m afraid of making the wrong choice. So I leave it and only decide if and when I HAVE to.

That happened to me when I was in school and had to do Portuguese written compositions. Usually, I did the whole test and when I arrived at the composition, I spent all the time I still had thinking about what to write about: “Should I write about this, that, what do I write? OMG, I don’t have a single idea! Is this ok?”. And when I just had exactly 5 minutes left (EXACTLY 5 minutes – that was my limit), that’s when I thought: “I have to write something, anything”. And that’s when I wrote the composition. And the truth is I had good grades. Maybe that’s why I write these posts really quickly. I don’t think or edit a lot because that’s how I learned how to write ;)

That actually means that my indecision has some advantages, in this case, I learned I could do a good work, very quickly. But it also has a lot of disadvantages… like leaving in a hurry and not taking everything I need with me ;)

Here are Some Disadvantages of Not Deciding

  • Postponing things you want to do because… you’ll decide later
  • Staying in situations that aren’t the best for you because… you can’t decide
  • Letting things stay as they are and life flow because… you won’t have to decide
  • And so on

But the other day a therapist told me something really interesting:

“Not deciding is also a decision.”

Not deciding is deciding to stay where we are, that we accept situations that aren’t the best for us, that we postpone what we’d like to do, that we let life flow and whatever happens, happens…

Sometimes it can be a good idea, but a lot of times, it surely isn’t, do you agree?

In relation to your image and style, you also have decisions to make.

Decisions can change everything in our lives.

Jim Rohn said that the day we decide is a great day. And that’s true.

When I decided that I would be stylish, no matter what, everything changed.

That’s when I believed it was possible and I started acting to make it happen. Deciding has that side effect: when you decide it means you believe it’s possible for you.

So here’s…

The first step to be stylish

Decide. Decide you’re going to change. Decide you’re going to have the image and style you love, starting TODAY.

Because tomorrow is a day that doesn’t exist yet. So there’s only one day to decide and one day when you can act and that day is today!!!

Love,
Lena*
