Today I wanna tell you about a phrase I “heard” in a dream, right before waking up, and it was:

“To be successful, accept yourself as you are.”

When I woke up I thought it was a very interesting and true phrase.

Because accepting ourselves as we are is a part of loving ourselves, and maybe it’s the most important part…

When you accept yourself as you are, the good and the bad, the things you do well and the ones you think you didn’t do as well, that’s when you really love yourself. When you’re willing to forgive something you think you shouldn’t have done, and see that if you did it, it was because you did the best you could at the time.

Lately, I realised that forgiving ourselves and others, is really very important to feel good about ourselves and others.

And from that also comes, accepting others as they are. Being compassionate for ourselves and others, knowing that each person does the best at each moment.

So…

To Improve Your Image and Style

  • Don’t criticize yourself if you still can’t look the way you like, instead, tell yourself: “Today I did the best I could and I still want to improve.”
  • Don’t feel bad if your outfit isn’t as good or cute as one you see in another person, you can think: “I did my best and this person is showing me what I’d like to know how to do, and I’ll know it soon.”

Accept your image and style exactly as they are now. Even if it’s not what you want, even if you feel that it’s very far from what you desire for you, you can focus instead on what’s good so you have positive feelings and a will to improve, instead of putting yourself down. Which will make you want to give up or to act from a feeling of rage or helplessness if it continues for a long time. And that usually doesn’t give good results ;)

When you feel good about your image and style as they are now, you can be more objective and see that it isn’t that hard to change and it’s available for you. It stops being something negative in your life, a limitation and starts to be a positive, inspiring goal.

In relation to forgiving, you can forgive your negative thoughts about yourself. Gabbi Bernstein says to use this phrase when we have negative thoughts: “I forgive myself for having this thought and I choose to see love instead” which means to look at the positive, and it’s always there.

Actions to Improve Your Style

Today, if you have a negative thought about your image and style, replace it by a positive and inspiring one. For example:

  • From “This hair looks awful, I can’t do anything with it” to “My hair is beautiful and can look even better” and you can even ask: “How can I make a cuter hairstyle today?”
  • From “I’m tired of this outfit” to “This outfit is good for now and it can be even better.”

And don’t critize yourself for having negative thoughts, we all have, you can always choose the positive.
