Today I want to tell you why sometimes you look at the mirror and you don’t like your look. When something isn’t working, but you don’t know what it is.
There are lots of reasons for that, but here are three important ones:
1. You Don’t Look Proportional
People like to see proportion. And there are two types of proportion: horizontal and vertical.
For example, if you have large shoulders and small hips you can balance it with a darker top and lighter bottom.
So the key for the horizontal proportion, is to balance the shoulders and hips.
Then you have the vertical proportion which has to do with the length of the legs, or better, the perceived lenght.
The amount of leg you can see makes the difference. If you wear a tunic, skinny jeans and ankle boots, you only see a small part of your leg. It looks like you have short legs and a big torso.
So you also need to balance the vertical proportion and show a big part of the legs.
2. You’re Wearing Too Many Colours
This can seem obvious but it makes a lot of difference. The eyes like to have somewhere to look at. When you wear lots of different colours, there’s a lot of confusion and you don’t know where to look.
So an outfit should have no more than 3 to 4 colours.
3. You’re Not Wearing the Right Size
Wearing the right size for you is essential. Because you can’t look good and stylish with clothes that aren’t your size.
For example, with the shoulder seam, it should be where your shoulder ends. If it goes past that, it looks strange and your oufit won’t work.
With skirts or pants, if they are too tight or too large, you’ll look sloppy.
So find out what’s your size and always wear the right size. Then you’re outfits will look much better!
And that’s it, I hope it helps!
