How to Choose the Best Pieces for You (Stylist in Your Pocket)

Today I want to tell you about a simple way to choose the best pieces for you. And how you can you have a Stylist – in this case, me – in your pocket ;) Sounds weird? Here’s what I mean… The other day a friend of mine who lives in New York, Cristina, wanted to buy some outfits to wear to some interviews. Since I couldn’t go with her (I live in Portugal), we did a Personal Shopping with messenger/email: Cristina sent me messages and emails with the pieces she found and the outfits she was thinking of doing, and we made the ideal looks for the interviews. Now on the Easter Holidays, a similar situation happened: Cristina wanted to buy a gift for my daughter Catarina, but we couldn’t be together at the time. So she sent me pictures of the pieces/looks she liked and I have her feedback…

Makeover: Alexandra’s Before & After

Do you like makeovers? I love to see and make them ;) Today I’m writing about Alexandra’s makeover. She gained some weight because she had two kids in a row. Her body changed so she didn’t know what to wear anymore. She was also feeling a little outdated – she did not know how to use some of the trends she saw other women using. And she had a common doubt: how to look chicer and less sporty / casual (she has to be practical and comfortable during the day but also look sophisticated for meetings during the day). I gave her some tips to favor her body right now. And to be able to use the new trends easily, and also create casual-chic outfits, I showed her my app that solves both situations. You can see more here. The looks we chose for the makeover have to do with lengthening Alexandra’s figure so she feels more elegant, and also wearing the pieces she likes the most…

Tired of struggling?

Do you know how things can feel hard? I do, that’s why my new hashtag is #letitbeeasy ;) If you’re like me, you may feel that your life so far has been a struggle. Fight to be in control of everything. Fight for the perfect life, to achieve your goals, to be happy, to be able to buy and do what you want, fight for everything. I’ve only recently realized that my life has been a constant struggle. The struggle to be better, to know more, to achieve, to get there. And of course the problem of fighting non-stop, it comes a point when we don’t have more energy. And then we start to realize that sometimes, we fought so hard and we did it and in the end we ruined everything anyway: for example, when I searched and searched and I tried to have that house that I wanted.…

How to Wear Accessories + Look of the Week

Today I’m talking about one of the favourite style themes of (almost) all women… accessories ;) I don’t usually wear many accessories every day, so my initial look had just my usual rings… But then I felt like adding a necklace and more radical bracelet. You can watch the video where I talk about accessories below (and see my tattoos): How to Wear Accessories Accessories are pretty easy to wear. There’s an important rule, which is, only having a statement piece, or the outfit will look confusing. In my case, my statement piece is the bracelet, the necklace is really simple. I also took some photos without the necklace so you can see the difference ;) Another idea is choosing very well the pieces you have, because any accessory calls attention. So only wear that you really love! There’s also a “forget about it” rule ;): not mixing gold and…

Nothing Goes Out of Fashion & Old Fashionable Look

Do you think you can’t wear certain pieces because they’re out of fashion? What I realised over the many years in which I like my style is that almost nothing goes out of fashion, in the sense that we can’t wear it because it doesn’t look good. There are season’s trends, that we can choose to wear or not. But we can also were all the pieces that aren’t a trend. Today I have some photos of an old look (because I didn’t have time for a photoshoot for this week ;)), and as you can see I could wear it today. I also did a video but it’s in Portuguese. I’m going to do more videos (in English too), and I decided that I don’t need to wear makeup or look very put together, or I won’t do anything at all. Goodbye to perfectionism once and for all :)…

Mini Vacay to Recharge Batteries

By the end of last week I was feeling super tired, worried and in need of a vacation. Why? Well, because there’s been so many changes in my life lately that I can’t even stop to breathe. In one year I changed homes twice. I rented my house for a year and that ended in 6 months (it didn’t go very well) and then in Airbnb all Summer. My kids changed school to a completely different area. We sold two cars and bought one. I had a housekeeper and then I hadn’t, I had another one and then I hand’t again, and now I’m hiring someone new (for someone who has 3 kids a housekeeper is REALLY important ;)). And now I have another thousand decisions to make! So I decided to take a vacation. Ideally I’d go for one or two weeks ;) But because we need to work,…

A-line Skirt, Dress or Coat: Fashion Definition

An A-line skirt, dress or coat, is fitted at the top and gradually widens towards the hem, creating the shape of a capital letter A. 3 Advantages of the A-line Shape Great to disguise big hips (good for triangle body shape) Balances wide shoulders (good for inverted triangle body shape) It’s a classic so it won’t go out of fashion – you can add it to your basics collection. Here are some examples: A-Line Skirt A-Line Dress A-Line Coat History of the A-Line The A-line is a classic. It arrived in the 50s. The term A-line was created by Christian Dior. Dior labeled his three collections of 1954 and 1955 after the shapes of the letters H, Y, and A. Then in Paris, Spring 1958, Yves Saint Laurent, inspired on the A-line shape, created a Trapeze line. The collection shows knee-length dresses that flare from the shoulders to the hem. They are…
